Project Introduction:

Welcome to the portfolio showcasing the effort of Nate Paprocki’s contribution to the Media Relations and Communications Committee within the Miami University Associated Student Government (ASG). This project is dedicated to the creation of engaging and impactful social media graphics tailored for Instagram, Facebook, and print media platforms.

As a vital component of the ASG, effective communication with the student body is paramount. Through compelling visuals and strategic messaging, the committee’s aim is to foster stronger connections, elevate awareness, and encourage active engagement among Miami University students. As a member on this committee, I have been a key member in accomplishing this goal. My personal objective, approach, deliverables, impact, and examples from this project are outlined below.

Objective:

The primary objective of this project is to enhance the visibility and reach of ASG initiatives, events, and important announcements across various digital and print platforms. By leveraging the power of social and print media, I strive to effectively communicate ASG's mission, values, and efforts to the student body.

Approach:

My approach involves meticulous planning, creative design, and strategic dissemination of content. We collaborate closely with ASG cabinet members to understand their objectives and target audience demographics, ensuring that our graphics are aligned with the overall communication strategy.

From conceptualization to execution, each graphic is crafted with precision to capture attention, evoke emotion, and convey key messages effectively, while actively considering the accessibility and inclusive aspects of design. Whether it's promoting ASG events, sharing important updates, or highlighting Senator’s achievements, the graphics serve as powerful tools for engaging the Miami University student body.

Key Deliverables:

- Tailored graphics for Instagram and Facebook posts: Eye-catching visuals optimized for social media platforms to increase engagement and drive traffic to ASG's online channels.

- Print media graphics: Professionally designed posters, flyers, and banners for on-campus distribution, ensuring maximum visibility and impact.

- Consistent branding: Maintaining brand consistency across all graphics to reinforce ASG's identity and credibility among students.

Impact:

Through this project, I aim to enhance the ASG's communication efforts, amplify its presence on social media, and strengthen connections with the student body. By delivering compelling visuals that resonate with Miami University students, I contribute to a more informed, engaged, and empowered campus community.

I invite you to explore my portfolio below and witness the transformative power of effective visual communication in advancing the mission of the Miami University Associated Student Government.

Examples:

Donuts With Title IX Deputy Instagram Post + Print Flyer

This graphic was requested by ASG’s Secretary of Safety and Wellness to promote an event that encouraged students to grab a free donut and talk with the Miami University’s Title IX Deputy. In order to draw more attention to the event, a print flyer was designed along with the Instagram post. Since it was an ASG sponsored event, adherence to brand standards was required. There wasn’t a strong call to action in this graphic, so I placed emphasis on the word “donuts” to catch student’s attention to stop and read more about the event.

Student Body President & Vice President Elections Instagram Posts

This Instagram graphics series was intended to encourage Miami University’s student body to vote for the 2024 Miami University Student Body President and Vice President. As it was posted on the ASG’s Instagram page, adherence to branding guidelines was crucial. The color palette, typeface, and ASG logo were all added to compline with brand standards. My goal was to produce a graphic that had a clear and personal call to action that would immediately be digested by a user scrolling on their feed. Using the term “your” makes the action personal while still not taking a stance on either candidate. While the final product can be seen to the left, there were three iterations before that were adjust based on the committee’s feedback.

Alumni Hockey Game Facebook Post

This graphic was intended to promote the Alumni Hockey Game on the Miami University Alumni Facebook page. Since this was created for Facebook, the 1200 x 630 px format was chosen to have the most amount of real estate while still maintaining Facebook’s native post size. Text hierarchy was the main focus behind this design as Users tend to “doom scroll” and will stop when something grabs their attention. “Alumni Hockey Game” has the most visual weight in this post to grab User’s attention. Once the User stops scrolling, the visual hierarchy dictates that the User will scan the sentence and finally land on the summary line at the bottom of the graphic. Less evident is the hockey pucks on the right which further show that this graphic pertains to hockey and the line after “Join Us For The” which points to the ASG logo in the top right corner which shows that this is a ASG event.
